Optical Network Switch for Rockwell Automation Networks

rockwell automationPhoenix Digital's optical network switch modules provide true plug-and-play multi-fault tolerant, redundant communication for Rockwell Automation’s I/O and peer-to-peer networks.

Available as in-chassis or standalone, DIN-rail mounted modules, every PDC fiber optic network switch can work with Rockwell Automation’s Redundant ControlLogix Processor configurations that support 1757-SRM Redundancy Modules. Our communication modules include:

For mission critical I/O and peer-to-peer applications that require superior uptime, easy deployment and simple maintenance, our optical network switch provides a multi-fault tolerant network that is easy to install, quick to repair, and secure.  Our network sets up in minutes with 1 dip switch and has no software programming or system configuration.  The system will auto recognize each fiber optic switch added to or dropped from the system network.

PDC communication modules do not require any software updates, security patches, driver updates or memory flash configurations, ever.

Utilizing our packet encapsulation technology and dual ring deployment, each PDC fiber optic network switch:

  • has 0-sec network convergence time on channel failure
  • supports nanosecond PTP Network I/O synchronization
  • supports PRP (parallel redundancy protocol) without configuration or modification

Upon power loss, our fiber optic networking will recover to a stable, operational state in less than 10 seconds after power loss regardless of unit count on the network or I/O devices connected.

Every PDC fiber optic network switch supports installations using both multimode fiber optic cable for communication distances of beyond 6 miles (10 kilometers) between modules and single-mode fiber optic cable for distances over 60 miles (96 kilometers).

Configurations are available in any popular I/O and peer-to-peer network topology, such as:

  • Ring
  • Bus
  • Star
  • Tree
  • Point-to-point

Our redundant fiber optic networking also offers 30-sec MTTR (mean time to repair) and supports IEC 61850 Power Automation Protocol.
